XZIBIT TALKS ABOUT SON’S APPEARANCE ON 7TH STUDIO ALBUM

After a six year hiatus, Xzibit returns to the music scene with his upcoming album Napalm. In addition to having celebrated rappers like Black Milk and Phats on his project, Xzibit features his 17-year-old son Tremaine, a.k.a. Tre Capital, on the deluxe version of his album. While some artists are aiming to have their children in the spotlight, Xzibit wasn’t trying to feature his son; in fact, he didn’t even know he had the gift of rhyme.

“It was his first time in the studio with me and my team. I was like, ‘Yo, I need a third verse on this track I did with Black Milk and Fats…’ I was just looking. I called Danny Brown, he said he was gonna get down — it was just a time constraint thing with him. So, I was like, ‘Man, what’s up?’ I looked at Tremaine and said (jokingly), ‘Do you got something for this?’ He was like, ‘Yea!’ The room was packed with all of my [people], so me being the [person]that I am, I’m like ‘Yea, let’s see what you got,” explained Xzibit. To his surprise, Tre got in the groove and rocked it on the first take.

Although the rapper was and continues to be proud of his son’s musical ability, he wants Tre to get an education before entering the world of hip hop. “The first thing before Tre Capital hits the site and does all this [stuff] (laughs), he has to pay me a diploma. That’s our deal,” said the rapper.

Xzibit’s new album is expected to hit stores on October 9, 2012.
