USHER DOESN’T WANT TO BE A PUSHY PARENT

Singer Usher Raymond absolutely enjoys having his sons Naviyd,3 1/2, and Usher V, 4 1/2, on tour with him. “I think they really do enjoy it,” says Raymond, “I think I put them on the spot when I bring them out on tour. I always bring them out on stage, and I’ll let the audience talk to them. They’re like, overwhelmed. I love it, it just freaks them out.”

The R&B singer told BBC Radio that his eldest enjoys dancing and may be headed for a career in the entertainment industry in coming years. “My oldest, Usher Raymond V, he loves to dance. He’s like ‘Daddy, teach me how to break dance.’ So I don’t know, he may go in this direction. I’m not going to push him. I don’t think it’s fair for parents to push their children in any direction, too much. Of course you should keep them engaged. But who knows what the future will hold,” said Raymond.

In the meantime, the father of two tries to set the best example he can for his boys. “Every time I open my mouth, I try to give as much advice as possible,” he said. “If my children are unclear on something, I take the time to explain it to them.”

The singer’s latest album, Finding Myself, hit stores on Tuesday.
