RAZ B THANKS FANS FOR SUPPORT AHEAD OF 3-MONTH-OLD SON ASTRO’S FUNERAL

Raz B is thanking fans for their support following the death of his 3-month-old son, Astro Monte Thornton.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Sunday, the B2K singer shared that he and his wife, Monali, are preparing for Astro’s funeral on Monday.

“First, I want to thank everyone for all the love, well wishes, and prayers you’ve sent to my wife, our family, and me,” Raz began. “Your kindness means more than words can express.”

“As we prepare to lay our sweet Astro to rest this Monday, many of you have reached out wanting to send flowers. We truly appreciate your love and support,” he continued.

Astro died unexpectedly last week. A representative for the family confirmed his passing in a statement.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Astro Monte Thornton, beloved son of Mona and De’Mario ‘Raz B’ Thornton of the R&B supergroup B2K,” the statement read. “The family asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time. They truly appreciate your love and support.”

According to TMZ, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Wednesday, one day after Astro died. His cause and manner of death remain pending investigation.

Raz and Monali welcomed Astro in May, their second child together. Their older son, Versai Carter Thornton, was born in October 2024. Monali also has an older daughter from a previous relationship.

Shortly before Astro’s birth, Raz opened up about what having a family of his own meant to him.

“I always wanted to take a real family picture with my own family… and finally, God made a way.”

He added, “Right now we’re at the hospital getting ready to welcome our newest addition, Astro .. another baby boy to the Thornton family. Big congratulations to my beautiful wife for being so strong through this journey. Watching you become a mother again is one of the greatest blessings I could ever witness.”
