Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’s son Egypt Dean is taking his basketball talents from California to New York.
The 15-year-old revealed on Instaram Monday that he is transferring to Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School, better known as LuHi, in Brookville, New York.
Alongside a graphic of himself in a LuHi jersey, Egypt wrote, “They’ll understand the move soon.”
His parents celebrated the news in the comments.
Alicia commented, “Son! You are incredible!!! You are on the journey and there is NO Limit!!!!!!! … just the beginning! Proud beyond words.”
Swizz also congratulated his son, saying, “It’s Showtime congrats King this is BIG!!!!!!!!!!”
The music producer later shared the same graphic on his Instagram page with a longer message.
“The hard work doesn’t stop young King !!! We’re very proud of you making this brave move to the east ! Life begins at the end of your comfort Zone !!! Congrats on this new @luhibasketball opportunity to be great!! you got this King.”
Egypt spent his freshman season playing varsity basketball at La Jolla Country Day School in California. The 6-foot-4 guard, a member of the Class of 2029, averaged 8.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals across 28 games, according to MaxPreps.
He scored in double figures several times, including a 21-point game against Maranatha Christian.
Egypt, who has also played for the Oakland Soldiers on Nike’s EYBL circuit, has begun attracting attention from college programs. In June, he received an offer from the University of Nevada, believed to be his first from a Division I program.
At LuHi, he is entering a program whose Varsity National team competes in EYBL Scholastic and faces leading high school teams from around the country.
LuHi is also where Kiyan Anthony, the son of Carmelo and La La Anthony, completed his final two years of high school. He transferred before his junior year and graduated in 2025 as one of the country’s top basketball prospects.
Now 19, Kiyan is entering his sophomore season at Syracuse University after averaging eight points per game as a freshman.
