SEVEN-JOHN SINGLETON TAKES THE STAGE IN ‘AUBREY’S MAGIC ALLEY’

Seven-John Singleton recently took his talents to the stage!

The eight-year-old actor and son of late filmmaker John Singleton starred in Aubrey’s Magic Alley, a stage production that made its Los Angeles debut on August 20.

Seven-John portrayed Brain Matthews in the play, which follows Aubrey, a young girl growing up in foster care in an underserved inner-city community.

Faced with difficult circumstances, she finds an escape through her imagination and transforms the alley behind her home into a magical world where anything seems possible.

Through Aubrey’s journey, the production explores adversity, identity and finding the strength to overcome circumstances. Written and directed by Allen Brown II, Aubrey’s Magic Alley stars Le Gianna Tran in the title role. The story was created especially with foster youth, inner-city children and underserved communities in mind.

The stage production is also the beginning of a larger multimedia franchise. Brown has already expanded the story into a comic book series and has plans to develop an animated television series in the future.

Seven-John joined an ensemble cast that included Zen Luong, Zoetry Luong, Phil Luong, Tamitra Clark, Muhammad Hamza and more.

For Seven-John, the role offered another chance to do what he has been doing practically his entire life — entertaining.

BCK readers may remember seeing Seven-John on the site when he was just a toddler. Over the years, he has gone from showing off his impressive learning skills and delivering an adorable weather report to building an acting career of his own.

His academic accomplishments are just as impressive. Seven-John reportedly mastered advanced reading and math by age two and became one of the youngest members of Mensa, the renowned high-IQ society, at age four.

His television credits include ABC’s Abbott Elementary, BET’s Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living and FX’s Snowfall, the crime drama co-created by his late father.
