Omarion and Apryl Jones had an extra surprise in store for their son Megaa as he turned 12.
For his birthday on August 7, Megaa got both of his ears pierced. Apryl shared a photo of the birthday boy showing off his new earrings while posing alongside his parents, sister A’mei, and a family friend.
“We surprised Megaa! Big boy got his ears pierced Big 12!” she captioned the photo.
The piercing was just one part of the birthday love for Megaa. Apryl later shared a video montage of her son through the years, along with a sweet message about watching him grow up.
“My gosh… I have a 12-year-old, y’all,” she wrote. “This is so crazy. When they say time flies, they are not playing.”
Apryl admitted that watching her children grow can be bittersweet, especially as the years seem to pass so quickly.
“I’m watching my babies grow right before my eyes, and sometimes it makes me a little sad because I wish I could slow time down,” she shared. “But at the same time, I feel so incredibly grateful to God for choosing me to be their mom… to witness who they’re becoming and to see what love, guidance, and intention can grow into.”
She went on to praise Megaa for the young man he is becoming.
“You have the biggest heart. So loving. So protective of the people you care about. Kind, thoughtful, intelligent, receptive, understanding, communicative… and just the coolest little guy I know,” Apryl wrote.
The mom of two also shared the story behind Megaa’s unique name, revealing that she and Omarion chose it together before his birth.
“Your dad and I chose your name together, he had a dream a few days before you were born on what the spelling of your name would look like…..and that’s how we got MEGAA,” she explained.
Apryl ended her message with a few words about what she sees ahead for her son.
“You will do great things on this earth son! I’m sure of it;)” she wrote. “I’m just so blessed to be your mom. Happy 12th birthday, my baby.”
Omarion kept his birthday tribute short, sharing a series of photos of Megaa on his Instagram Stories. “Love you, son,” he captioned one of the snapshots.
Omarion and Apryl welcomed Megaa in 2014. They also share daughter A’mei, who was born in 2016.
