Big Tigger is stepping away from his radio show following his arrest on domestic violence charges.
The radio host, whose real name is Darian Morgan, made the announcement in a statement posted to social media.
“For as long as I’ve been in this industry, my focus has always been to keep the spotlight on the culture and the incredible people I get to interview,” he wrote. “But right now, my personal life is in the public eye and has become the subject of overwhelming speculation and misinformation.”
Big Tigger said being away from his son has been the hardest part of the ordeal.
“Through all of this, what hurts the most is being away from my son. Nothing is more important to me than being a great father,” he said. “So I’ve decided to step away from the mic for a while to focus on my family and give my legal team the room they need.”
He closed the statement by again denying the allegations.
“As I previously said, I unequivocally deny every allegation, and I am looking forward to clearing my name. Thank you so much all for the love and support.”
Big Tigger was arrested by Sandy Springs police on charges of aggravated battery, battery and third-degree cruelty to children.
The arrest affidavit alleges he pushed Brown into an office door during an argument inside their Sandy Springs home, leaving her with a laceration above her left eye that required stitches. Investigators also said the couple’s 13-year-old son was upstairs and heard the incident. A judge later granted Brown a temporary protective order barring Tigger from contacting her or returning to their family home.
Big Tigger has denied the allegations and said he intends to clear his name through the legal process. The veteran broadcaster has been a fixture on Atlanta radio for more than two decades and currently hosts the afternoon drive on V-103, one of the city’s most-listened-to stations.
