Shayla Gibson is officially a high school graduate!
The daughter of Tyrese Gibson and Norma Mitchell was surrounded by family and friends as she received her diploma from Sierra Canyon School this week.
Tyrese shared photos from the ceremony on Threads and reflected on the moment.
“Life changing day….. SHAYLA ‘Heir’ Gibson!!!!! The proudest moment of my life…….. It’s done done….. She’s really on her way to college with a full ride…!!” he wrote.
In the pictures, Shayla posed in her graduation cap and gown while surrounded by her dad, mom, Tyrese’s girlfriend, and several close family friends.
The graduation comes just weeks after Tyrese revealed that Shayla had secured a full-ride scholarship for college. At the time, the proud father shared photos from her prom and spoke about the impact his daughter has had on his life.
“#MyShayla changed my life forever….This is my first born, Shayla Gibson… The heir to the Gibson legacy and empire that I’m still building brick by brick,” he wrote.
Tyrese also reflected on some of the obstacles he has faced throughout Shayla’s life.
“If ‘putting it all on the line for your child’ was a person… it would be me,” Tyrese shared. “I stand here today as a survivor of family court, divorce, public judgment, private pain, reputation hits, sleepless nights and every test imaginable… but I never stopped showing up as a PRESENT father. Never.”
He also revealed that Shayla had been accepted to college on a full scholarship.
“Her last day of school was 48 hours ago… and my baby just got accepted into college on a FULL RIDE,” he wrote.
“This may honestly be one of the proudest moments of my life since the day you were born,” he added. “Thank you Jesus… because I am nothing without you.”
