Candace Parker had a proud mom moment this past weekend as her daughter, Lailaa Williams, headed to junior prom.
The former WNBA star shared a look at the moment on Instagram, where Lailaa was seen dressed for the night in a floor length burgundy gown.
In one image, Parker leaned in and kissed Lailaa on the cheek as the two stood beneath a custom sign that read “Lailaa’s Junior Prom 25.”
Another snapshot showed Lailaa with her brother, her mom, her grandmother, and Parker’s wife.
“Prom thug tears babygirl was beautiful and she’s growing up (per usual… Grateful for the village that ALWAYS shows up for my baby),” Parker wrote.
Lailaa is Parker’s daughter with her ex-husband Shelden Williams.
The 17-year-old, who plays middle blocker at her high school, recently committed to play Division I volleyball at the University of California San Diego.
“I’m super excited to announce my commitment to play D1 volleyball and continue my education at University of California, San Diego as a Triton!” Lailaa wrote on Instagram.
“This has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I wouldn’t be here without so many people,” she continued. “Thank you to my family for always supporting me and pushing me to keep going, even when things got tough.”
Her parents both responded publicly after the announcement.
Candace Parker shared her pride on Instagram, saying, “To say I’m proud is an understatement……Lailaa is committing to play volleyball at the University of California San Diego! I’ve seen the work, the commitment and the process and that’s what makes me the most proud of who and what you are.”
Shelden shared a similar sentiment as Parker on his page.
“I can hardly put into words just how proud I am of you as you embark on this incredible journey to play volleyball at UC San Diego!! Your commitment, hard work, and determination to reach this milestone are truly inspiring,” he wrote.
