Does Iman Shumpert have a new baby? That’s what fans are asking after the former NBA player shared a series of snapshots on Instagram on Saturday that included a photo of a newborn
In the photo, Shumpert is holding the baby in what appears to be a hospital room, with a navy flag draped over his shoulders reading “NAVY.”
His caption, “Girl Dad” followed by three heart emojis, quickly got people talking.
Within minutes, the comments section filled with questions and guesses about whether the baby was his. Some took the post as a possible birth reveal, while others focused on details in the photo itself.
“Is this how he launch a new baby?! okay,” one person wrote. Another commented, “He had another baby.”
“I think that the baby is named ‘Navy’,” one commenter wrote.
Another added, “The man has 3 daughters. Junie, Rose and Navy. He’s divorced and has free will.”
Still, not everyone is convinced. Some people believe the baby could belong to someone close to him or that the “NAVY” reference may be tied to his father.
“Wasn’t his dad in the Navy,” one person wrote.
Shumpert is already a father to two daughters, Junie and Rue Rose, whom he shares with his ex-wife Teyana Taylor.
In a recent interview on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe, he spoke about raising his daughters and how his role as a father has shifted over time.
“Oh, it’s the same,” he said when asked about his bond with his girls compared to his relationship with his own father. “I’m open book with them. Open door. Uh me and Junie have tough conversations.”
He also pointed out one difference.
“You know everything that’s transpired, I don’t have their ear every day how my dad did,” he said. “That’s their difference that I don’t have their ear every day.”
During the same conversation, Shumpert said he does want more children.
“Oh, yeah. I’m going to have more kids,” he said. “I got to have a [boy]. I got to get it.”
When asked if he specifically wants a son, he added, “More girls is cool. I don’t really care. But we going till we get that boy.”
