Eddie Murphy has welcomed his first grandson.
During the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award ceremony on April 18, the actor revealed that his daughter Bria Murphy recently welcomed a baby boy.
“I just had my first grandson two months ago,” he told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet.
He also confirmed that his son Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence recently welcomed a daughter, Ari Skye.
“And I had my third granddaughter two weeks ago and I turned 65 a month ago,” he added. “So all this stuff is… I’m like it’s raining blessings on me.”

Bria Murphy and her husband, Michael Xavier, previously celebrated the upcoming arrival of their son, John, with a baby shower in November. The gathering took place at Eddie Murphy’s home, where family and friends came together ahead of the baby’s arrival.
Bria’s mother, Nicole Mitchell, shared a video montage from the event and included a message for her grandson:
“Celebrating Bria and the beautiful blessing she’s bringing into the world. Baby John, we cannot wait to meet you. #Babyshower #love #babyboy #celebration #family #friends.”
Bria first revealed her pregnancy while attending the premiere of her father’s documentary, Being Eddie, which centers on his life and his role as a father.
Murphy is a father of 10. He shares Eric with Paulette McNeely and Christian with Tamara Hood. He shares Bria, Shayne, Zola, Bella, and Myles with his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell. He is also father to Angel with Melanie Brown, and shares Izzy and Max with his wife, Paige Butcher.
In a recent interview, Murphy reflected on having a large family.
“It just happened,” he said. “I never knew I would have 10 kids, but now it’s the best thing ever. If you can afford that many kids, you should have as many kids as you can afford. That is fun.”
He added, “My children are all decent people. I don’t have one rotten one, and I would like to think that they got some of that from me.”
