LeBron James is leading by example when it comes to his daughter Zhuri James.
Speaking during the Los Angeles Lakers’ annual Girl Dad Night, the four time NBA champion said the lessons he teaches Zhuri come from watching how he treats her mother, Savannah James, and the rest of their family.
“The way I treat her mother. The love that I have inside the family, the accountability that I have inside the family, the way I think I treat her mom and her grandmothers, my mom and my mother-in-law and her siblings.”

James said many of the behaviors children carry into adulthood are shaped inside the home.
“I think a lot of habits that kids have come from their households. A lot of love comes from their households. A lot of things that they can take with them as they get older and whatever the case may be, they learn in their households.”
In addition to Zhuri, James and Savannah are also parents to sons Bronny James and Bryce James.
According to James, hearing that their children are respectful and well mannered is one of the “the greatest compliment” that he and Savannah receive.
He then emphasized, “I just think the love that, my daughter [sees] how I treat her mom, and like I said, how I treat her grandmothers and how I treat the household.”
“It’s special. It’s definitely softened me up over the last 11 years”

James also said becoming a father to a daughter “softened” him up.
“Yeah, I love girl dads. It’s pretty cool and I’m happy to be one,” he said.
The Los Angeles Lakers introduced their first Girl Dad Night on March 2, 2024 in recognition of Women’s History Month.
The event celebrates father-daughter relationships and honors the legacy of Kobe Bryant, who helped popularize the “Girl Dad” movement through his devotion to his daughters and support of women’s sports.
