Fans of the Descendants universe are about to rejoice as Disney gears up for the release of the fifth musical movie. To build anticipation, the entertainment giant has dropped a first look at what’s to come in the latest installment of the franchise, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.
Descendants: Wicked Wonderland serves as the sequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red. In the trailer, Red and Chloe accidentally create a new villain who sets out to terrorize Wonderland and its inhabitants.
The Queen of Hearts’ daughter, Red, and Cinderella’s daughter, Chloe, quickly learn that tampering with the fabric of time comes with consequences.
Set primarily in present day Wonderland, the film begins with Red and Chloe hiding the time-traveling pocket watch inside the Royal Vault, believing no one else will find it. Unbeknownst to them, Maddox Hatter, played by Leonardo Nam, has become a ruthless villain determined to retrieve the magical watch and use it to bend time and reshape Wonderland to his will.
The upcoming movie will also feature returning cast members. Melanie Paxson reprises her role as Fairy Godmother, alongside Brandy as Cinderella, Paolo Montalban as King Charming, and Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts. For longtime fans, here’s a piece of trivia: Melanie Paxson is the only actor to appear in all five Descendants films.
In addition to franchise regulars, new characters will be introduced in Wonderland. Joining the cast are Liamani Segura as Pink, Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, Joel Oulette as Robbie Hood, Zavien Garrett as Felix Facilier, Ryan McEwen as Squirmy Smee, and Dayton Paradis as Squeaky Smee.
Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will premiere on Disney+ and Disney Channel this summer.
