CHARLIE WOODS COMMITS TO PLAY GOLF AT FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY

Charlie Woods is college bound!

The 17-year-old announced on Tuesday, Feb. 10, that he has committed to play collegiate golf at Florida State University.

“Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!” Charlie wrote on Instagram.

His dad, Tiger Woods, reacted under the post, saying, “Congratulations Charlie. I’m so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”

Tiger knows a thing or two about the college route. The 15 time major champion—who racked up 82 PGA Tour wins and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022—played at Stanford University for two seasons before turning pro and launching one of the most decorated careers in the sport.

But as Tiger has pointed out, the recruiting world looks very different now than it did during his own rise.

“We didn’t have cell phones,” Tiger said to Golf Week during last year’s Hero World Challenge, . “We would have written letters that would show up in the mailbox. ‘Oh, my God, I got a letter.'”

He added that today’s process moves at a completely different speed.

“It’s just very different, how fast coaches can communicate with the family members and the player that they’re trying to recruit,” he explained. “It’s just a different world. Not saying it’s good or bad, it’s just different.”

Charlie is a junior at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach. He is ranked No. 21 in the American Junior Golf Association standings. In May 2025, he won the Team TaylorMade Invitational and later finished No. 18 at the Rolex Tournament of Champions in November.

Tiger has said he doesn’t want Charlie to feel pressured to pursue the game.

“I just don’t want him to hate the game,” he said during a 2021 episode of Golf Digest’s mini series A Round with Tiger: Celebrity Lessons. “I get emotional about it. Some of my best memories are being out there with my dad.”

Tiger shares Charlie and his 18 year old daughter, Sam Alexis Woods, with his ex wife, Elin Nordegren.
