Serena Williams is soaking up the cozy moments with her little girls. The tennis legend recently shared an adorable carousel of images on Instagram, calling Olympia and Adira her “Momma’s cuddle buddies” as the trio piled into bed for some family downtime.
In the carousel of photos, the mother-of-two lounges in striped pajamas and a leopard-print silk bonnet while her daughters snuggle up beside her. Olympia, 8, wears a white shirt decorated with rainbow hearts and the message “The Future Is Bright,” clutching a brown stuffed animal. Two-year-old Adira sits close with a blue dragon toy, a Squishmallow, and her white pajamas with a striped collar. A tablet sits propped in front of them as they watch episodes of Bluey together.
The tennis phenom shares her daughters with husband, Reddit co-founder, Alexis Ohanian and has often spoken about how meaningful motherhood is to her, even more than her historic tennis career.
Asked last year what brings her the most joy, she didn’t hesitate, “My kids,” she told Byrdie. “I can’t say that a Wimbledon trophy holds a candle to volunteering at my kid’s school.”
The 44-year-old went on to say that she hopes her daughters feel empowered when they look back at her journey.
“I want my daughters to look at my career and learn that being authentic to themselves is really the most important thing … I also hope my daughters see how many different passions I have — from tennis to beauty — and learn that they can lead dynamic careers and lives across their many interests.”
In another recent exclusive interview, Serena admitted that it is hard for her to leave her girls for an adult night out on the town.
While walking the red carpet at the Baby2Baby Gala on Nov. 8, the legendary mother-of-two told People Magazine that leaving her daughters still tugs at her heart. “Well, tonight was definitely a little more difficult. I don’t like to leave my kids,” she admitted, adding, “I have a nighttime routine with them every day.”
We are glad that she seemingly shared a glimpse of their nighttime routine with us and we cannot wait for more moments with the girls.
