Jennifer Hudson is giving fans a look at a sweet mother-son moment.
The EGOT winner hopped on Instagram over the weekend to share new videos from a recent studio session with her sixteen-year-old son, David Otunga Jr.
The clips showed the mother and son standing together at the microphone as David Jr. delivered a soulful take on “Best Part,” the 2017 Daniel Caesar and H. E. R. duet he considers one of his favorites.
Hudson revealed that the idea came directly from him. In her caption, she wrote, “The best part of singing is singing with my son. He said mama let’s record one of my fav songs together.”
But it was the final slide that had social media talking. Hudson joked that she couldn’t resist adding a little “Jennifer Hudson style” to the moment, turning up her powerhouse vocals for fun.
That move led to her son jokingly calling her out for being “too loud”.
Hudson added in her caption, “And that last slide I had to have a lil fun with him Jennifer Hudson style with the freight train!! He said now mama u can’t be doing all of that! Lol all in fun.”
Fans couldn’t get enough of the exchange, and many were blown away by David Jr.’s voice.
“I love this, this is a beautiful moment with your son plus he is singing DOWNNNN,” one follower wrote. Another added, “Crying tears. He sounds so good and in his zone!!!! I love this for him.”
A third commenter compared the final slide to the viral toddler who once told her father, “that’s too loud… do it nicely.”
David Jr. is Jennifer’s only child, whom she shares with ex fiancé David Otunga. The pair were together for nearly a decade before ending their engagement in 2017.
