Kylie Jenner is opening up about the emotional side of becoming a mom earlier than everyone around her, saying that is was “really hard” being the only one in her circle to have kids.
During her appearance on Khloe in Wonder Land, the 28-year-old reflected on raising daughter Stormi, 7, and son Aire, 3, while still finding her own identity in her 20s. When host Khloe asked how she balances motherhood with who she is outside of being a parent, Kylie didn’t sugarcoat it.
“I think I have a really good balance,” Kylie said. “I think that I definitely still feel like myself. It was really hard for me having kids so young and you’re just…the emotions, and the postpartum.”
Khloe pointed out that Kylie was also the first in their friend group to start a family. The Kylie Cosmetics founder agreed, sharing that although she and close friend Yris Palmer bonded over motherhood, adjusting to such a huge responsibility came with growing pains.
“The only one. Yris. Yris and I became a lot closer. She’s a little bit older than me, we had kids together also,” Kylie said. “But I think I did a pretty good job. I think it just takes time.”

Khloe praised her younger sister’s journey, saying, “You did a great job.”
Kylie admitted it took her about a year after each birth to truly feel like herself again, something Khloé said is “…normal,” adding, “I think it just takes a minute to get your f…… mojo back.”
Kylie has spoken before about the challenges of having children young. In her August 2024 British Vogue interview, she remembered the shock of her first pregnancy.
“I was 19 when I got pregnant, 20 when I had her,” she said of Stormi. “It was wild.”
She explained that although her family didn’t see her as “that young,” the reality of such a major life change took time to fully process. Looking back, she has more compassion for her younger self.

“I have this daughter and I just want the best for her and I want her to just love herself unconditionally,” she said.
But being the only one in her friend circle with kids brought its own challenges, especially when her peers didn’t always understand her schedule.
“I have to remind my friends who don’t have kids all the time, who are like: ‘Let’s do this in the morning!’, that I have children,” she said. “Letting go of your selfishness and your freedom at a very young age… I don’t think we realize how selfish we are as human beings until we have children. But, you know, that is also the biggest pro.”
Still, Kylie says the tradeoff is worth it. Now 26 with a first-grader, she joked about the future, “… I’m going to be 40 with a 20-year-old,” she said through tears, then added, “And we’re going to be best friends.”
