MONICA EXPLAINS WHY SHE DOESN’T ALLOW SLEEPOVERS: “THAT WOULD BE A NO FOR ME”

Singer Monica is setting clear boundaries when it comes to her kids, and sleepovers are one rule she is not budging on.

The R&B star shared her thoughts after The Neighborhood Talk reposted a viral TikTok video from a single father who opened up about why he was not allowed to host a slumber party for his daughter.

The dad, known on TikTok as @markdjangocrazy, said he was “very sad and depressed” after finding out that some of the mothers didn’t feel comfortable having their daughters spend the night at his house.

In the post, he explained that he had been taken advantage of by an older woman he trusted when he was younger and still didn’t understand why parents would be hesitant.

The clip sparked heated debate online about modern parenting, boundaries, and safety. “My family has a no sleepover rule period and end,” one TikTok user wrote.

Another added, “It’s not a label. It’s just not a move a single father should make. For your own protection. Maybe have the grandma host it. Or your homegirl host it with you not being there.”

A third commented, “That woman was not singling you out at all. The answer would be no for any male. And even if the mother was in the house with the father, the answer gone still be no.”

But Monica’s response stood out above them all.

“We don’t do sleepovers,” the Grammy-winning singer wrote. “My mother didn’t, I don’t either and that applied to my sons & daughter! In his case inviting some moms to be there overnight to chaperone may work but that would be a no for me as well.”

Many parents in the comments agreed with her stance, saying that the father shouldn’t take it personally it’s simply a reflection of the times and how careful families need to be.

Monica is the mother of three children: sons Rocko and Romelo, and daughter Laiyah.
