Ashanti and Nelly are giving fans a front-row seat to their life as new parents, newlyweds, and music icons in their upcoming reality show Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together.
Set to premiere June 26 on Peacock, the eight-episode series follows the couple as they adjust to life with their baby boy, juggle busy careers, and reflect on their decades-long love story.
In the just-released trailer, viewers catch glimpses of the couple’s son, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes — affectionately known as “KK” — marking the first public look at their little one.
The trailer kicks off with a lighthearted tone, showing Ashanti joking, “I’m a wee bit dramatic,” while Nelly laughs, “She got me, y’all,” as the two reflect on their on-again, off-again relationship. Ashanti claps back, “He wanted to get got.”
The show will take fans behind the scenes of their reunion after years apart, their wedding in 2023, and the birth of their first child together in July 2024. Ashanti, who became a mom for the first time with KK, opens up about navigating new motherhood. “KK is my first child, so I’m a little more frantic,” she says.
Nelly, already a father of four, adds with a smile, “My parenting style? Just don’t burn down the house.”
The series promises an unfiltered look at their journey, from personal milestones and parenting moments to discussions about where to raise their family.
According to Peacock, the show offers a “fun-filled exploration of love’s second chances”.
Ashanti first shared news of her pregnancy and engagement to Essence in April 2024, saying, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation. Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to.”
In addition to starring, Nelly and Ashanti are executive producers on the project, alongside showrunner Oji Singletary, Jenny Daly, Lauren Lazin, and J Erving. The show is produced by Critical Productions, LLC.
