Javaughn Young-White, Kehlani’s ex-partner and father of their 5-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi, has responded to the singer’s recent request for a domestic violence restraining order.
In his response, White denies the abuse accusations and presents his own claims about their ongoing custody dispute.

Central to Young-White’s response is his claim that Kehlani is trying to distance Adeya from him. He claims that Kehlani has made several unfounded accusations, including that he engages in “religious rants” and is “out of touch with reality.”
White, however, challenges these claims, pointing out what he sees as contradictions in Kehlani’s behavior.
“Kehlani accuses me of having religious rants and not being in touch with reality, yet Kehlani is the one who claims to see spirits and believes our daughter’s spirit was one of Kehlani’s wives in a past life,” he says.

In August, Javaughn filed a paternity petition seeking full custody of Adeya, alleging that Kehlani has been involved with a cult for several years, a situation he believes negatively affects their daughter’s well-being.
Kehlani denies any involvement with a cult, yet White’s new petition includes evidence that she once described her former religious group as a cult. “”Kehlani told me that she left her then-religion because she thought it was a cult,” he states, challenging any suggestion that he has been making unsubstantiated claims.

The legal dispute, which began in July when White filed for custody, has escalated since Kehlani sought a temporary restraining order in response. Now White is requesting joint legal and physical custody of Adeya, suggesting a 2-2-5 parenting schedule to ensure consistent time with his daughter.
He also expresses his desire to be an active parent in her life, sharing, “Adeya has told me she wants her new room to be pink, have a bunk bed, unicorns, and a gumball machine. I am excited to make our new home special for Adeya.”
