Al Roker’s 15-month-old granddaughter, Sky Clara Laga, made her television debut on the Today show on October 15, and it was a family affair!
Sky appeared alongside her mom, Courtney Roker Laga—Al’s eldest daughter—who stopped by to share some mouthwatering recipes from her and Al’s brand-new cookbook, Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By: Easy, Memory-Making Family Dishes for Every Occasion.
During the segment, Courtney shared some kitchen tips while toasting to the occasion with a blood orange Aperol spritz.
Things took an adorable turn when Sky’s dad, Wes Laga, entered the kitchen with a teary-eyed Sky in his arms.
Al, in a playful moment, said, “Oh, you wanted your Papa,” as he comforted his granddaughter, who Courtney revealed was startled by the noise from a KitchenAid mixer.
This sweet moment comes just months after Al celebrated his granddaughter’s first birthday in July. The TV personality posted a touching photo collage of Sky on Instagram, set to Stevie Wonder’s iconic “Isn’t She Lovely”.
“At 11:41am a year ago today, I got to fall@in love all over again in a very special way. (Thanks) @ouichefroker and @thatteacherwhodjs for the gift of this special girl, Sky,” he wrote.
Since becoming a grandparent last year, Al has been vocal about the joy Sky brings to his life.
“By the time you become a grandparent, you already know what it takes to raise a child,” Al told TODAY.com in a recent interview. “And since it’s not your primary responsibility, you can really just bask in the joy of everything they do because you don’t have to worry about all the other stuff,” he said
Roker, 69, shares daughter Courtney, 36, with his previous wife, Alice Bell, and has two more children with his current wife, Deborah Roberts: daughter Leila, 25, and son Nick, 22.
