Sesame Street, Elmo, and Robin Roberts are continuing to help others address their mental health awareness with a few tips that will help both children and adults alike!
Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?

Back in January, Elmo posted a seemingly simply and innocent tweet on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, and then the following day on Threads, asking, “How is everybody doing?” Well, not expecting the flood gates of emotion to open, a lot of people responded. The post got over 217 million views on just X alone.
The following week, Elmo followed up to his post with, “Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you.”
Fast-forward to the present and Good Morning American host Robin Roberts stopped by the famous neighborhood to talk to Elmo and Elmos’ friend, Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, about mental health awareness and the recent launch of Sesame Workshop‘s “new emotional wellbeing resources with hands-on strategies aimed for children who feel overwhelmed, though the strategy is also helpful for people of all ages.”
“We know there’s a mental health crisis and it’s important for us to express our feelings,” Dr. Truglio explained to Roberts in her interview. “We’re meeting the needs of kids today. We wanted to make sure our stories and resources are there to help children and their circle of care.”
One magical resource that Sesame Workshop offers is pure crafting fun for both parents and children. Together, they can make a magical glitter jar. The sparkles in the jar mirror the whirlwind of emotions that can be often found inside of a child. Watching the glitter dance and then peacefully settle can have a calming affect on both.
“Glitter represents all the big feelings we’re having inside,” Truglio explained.
“So it gives us something to focus on as we’re taking a deep breath,” she added, “Everybody can make a glitter jar.”
