Alicia Keys has embarked on a new journey in her illustrious career. On November 19, surrounded by her family, Keys unveiled her first-ever musical, “Hell’s Kitchen”, marking a significant milestone in her 13-year journey to bring this masterpiece to life.
“Congrats congrats congrats, I’ve watched my wife work on this masterpiece called #hellskitchen for 13yrs,” Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz, captioned an image of the musical’s artwork on Instagram.

Hell’s Kitchen made its debut at the Public Theater in November and will now be transferred to the Shubert Theater on Broadway starting March 28, with an opening night of Apr. 20.
“Big #NEWYORK ENERGY Hells Kitchen was phenomenal and premier night was a blast,” Swizz Beatz’ ex-wife Mashonda wrote in a carousel of images as she and her son, Kasseem, were front-and-center for the first show.
Mashonda continued her post saying, “Congratulations @aliciakeys. The cast, production and story telling is.”
Even Keys’ youngest son, nine-year-old Genesis Ali Dean, played a special behind-the-scenes role, cheering on his mom for her big debut from the wings of the theater.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Alicia Keys talks about the long process of bringing Hell’s Kitchen to life.
“Good things take time and for 13 years, I’ve been dreaming, developing and finding inspiration for a musical based on my experience growing up in Hell’s Kitchen, NYC. Hell’s Kitchen is inspired by my life, but it’s not a biographical story,” she told the publication.
She continued, “It’s a story about family relationships and identity: Who are we? Who do we want to be? Who are we becoming? The score features new songs that I’m really excited to get out into the world alongside many of my album releases that you know but you’ve never heard like this – rearranged and reinterpreted.”
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz share two children together, Egypt Daoud and Genesis Ali. Swizz is also father to three children from previous relationships, Prince Nasir, Kasseem Jr. and Nicole.
