Madonna rang in her 65th birthday on August 16th with all six of her children—Lourdes, 26, Rocco, 23, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and 10-year-old twins Stella and Estere. The iconic “Material Girl” singer marked the milestone by taking a trip to Lisbon, Portugal, where she celebrated with a birthday bash.
On Friday, the songstress took to Instagram to share a video montage from the trip. In the caption, she expressed her joy at being alive, after being hospitalized in June due to a serious bacterial infection.
“It’s great to be Alive………… ..,” she wrote in the caption. “And Amazing to Be able to put on my dancing shoes and Celebrate my Birthday!”
She concluded by thanking Lisbon and everyone who made the celebration possible.
“Thank you Lisbon and to all who made it possible!”
Over the weekend, she shared more pictures of her children enjoying the sun and beach. The snapshots included Lourdes and Mercy spending time together on the beach.
She captioned, “Birthday fun at the beach!”
For the birthday bash, Madonna’s children dressed up, with the boys wearing button-up shirts and the girls donning colorful dresses.
Adding a musical touch to the celebration, her eldest daughter, who has chosen to follow her mother’s path by releasing music under the name Lolahol, also took the stage and performed at the event.
In addition, son David sang and played the piano to Elton John’s “Your song”. The lyrics resonated with the sentiment of the moment: “How wonderful life is while you’re in the world.”
Madonna recently reflected on her hospital stint, saying she was “grateful for all the blessings in my life”.
“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children,” the singer told her followers on Instagram last month.
