Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested for domestic violence after allegedly punching his teen daughter in the face.
According to TMZ,
“Stoudemire is alleged to have struck one of his teen daughters — one is 17 and another is 14 — across the face at least twice … once with a closed fist, which was described by the girl as a punch, and another being a slap.
The report states that his daughter was left bloodied from the hits, and goes on to say the alleged victim described him as continuing to strike her body after the blows to her face.”
Stoudemire later took to his Instagram to address the allegations. He began, “Over the last 24 hours, an incident at my family home led to my being charged with assaulting my daughter. It is an allegation based on a report that does not square with the facts. I am of the Jewish faith, today Jewish people all over the world celebrate Hanukkah and hear the story of how we fought wickedness.”
He continued, “I believe that whatever is hateful to you, do not do to others.’ As the investigation unfolds, the facts will show the allegations to be groundless as my daughter’s medical condition is not the result of being assaulted by a father who is nearly 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds. I could never see myself assaulting any person, especially my children. I respect, protect, and love my family, particularly my children. As a father, I ask for your grace as we secure our space and privacy.”
It has been nearly three years since Amar’e and his ex-wife, Alexis Stoudemire, finalized their divorce. The Stoudemires separated after his affair was revealed in 2017. Amar’e and Alexis appeared to be headed away from marriage dissolution in 2019 and even moved to dismiss their petition for divorce. The two, however, ultimately decided to end their marriage the following year.
Amar’e Stoudemire has four kids – Assata, Arè, Amar’e Jr., and Alijah – with his ex-wife. Assata and Arè are the star athlete’s teen daughters.
