Marsai Martin, Storm Reid, and more attend the Essence‘s Black Women in Hollywood awards at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
The annual event is now in its 15th year. According to Essence Magazine, the awards event “… launched Black Women In Hollywood as a spotlight for achievements on screen and a celebration of female voices expanding and transforming the art of storytelling. This year, we are proud to recognize four actresses whose talents have contributed to the creation of a vast and dynamic Black cinematic universe.”
This year’s honorees included Nia Long, Quinta Brunson, Chanté Adams and Aunjanue Ellis. “Essence Black Women in Hollywood is a safe house, a family reunion, a support group and a fashion show all rolled into one,” Roxanne Roxanne actress Chanté Adams said as she received her award. “And I’m so, so happy that I got to experience something so meaningful at the beginning of my career.”
And of course, as Adams put it, the event was and is always a fashion show. And here is what some of our BCK favorites were wearing.
Marsai Martin-Martin literally sparkled on the carpet for press photos. The Black-ish star was dressed in a pretty-in-pink sequin midi with pointy ankle-strapped heels.
Storm Reid-The Euphoria star was walking on sunshine in her midriff-baring LaPointe dress with feathered sleeves. Polishing off the look, she wore simple pointed-toe white ankle strapped heels.
Akira Akbar-Akbar stunned in black and red St. John, mirroring Reid’s shoe style. The Bel Air star finished her elegant look with cascading braded locks.
Lexi Underwood-The actress and filmmaker continued with the trend of the day and stunned in a green midriff-baring custom Cult Gaia pantsuit with peek-a-boo sandals.
Kaci Walfall-The seventeen-year-old actress unquestionably came to the carpet with her fashion game in nothing less than peek condition. The Naomi actress was dressed in a beautiful knee-length pink Zimmermann dress with matching platforms. Walfall definitely looked like a princess.
Congratulations to this year’s honorees. They truly have made a mark for themselves and those to follow in Hollywood. As for #younghollywood, they brought their A-game to the carpet, and we didn’t expect them to do anything less!
