Scottie revealed the sad news on his Instagram today, sharing a slideshow of photos of himself and his son. He wrote,”I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game. Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though—Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”

Scottie concluded by asking fans to keep Antron’s mom, his ex-wife Karen McCollum, in their prayers. “Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again. ”

The former NBA star married McCollum from 1988-1990. He later wed Larsa Pippen on July 20, 1997 and the two have four children together.

Larsa and kids shared their condolences on their respective Instagram pages. Larsa wrote, “Some truths in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten! They will always remain with us forever. You are forever in our hearts, we love you and will miss you always. RIP Antron.”

Larsa and Scottie’s kids, Preston, Scottie Jr., Justin and Sophia, kept their remarks brief.

Preston Pippen shared on his Instagram stories, “Tmrw not guaranteed. Y’all stay safe out there”, while  Scottie Jr., Justin, and Sophia simply wrote, “R.I.P” along with throwback images of their late brother.

In addition to his kids with Larsa Pippen, Scottie is also dad to Taylor with former girlfriend Sonya Roby, and daughter Sierra with ex Yvette Deleone.
