What better way to celebrate the holiday than with Gabrielle Union and her daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, or Shady Baby? The L.A.’s Finest actress uploaded pictures of her daughter hanging out poolside with mom on Thursday (July 4).
One candid of Gabrielle and Shady Baby showed the little one giving the camera her full attention. The little one did not smile but rather gave a knowing look that reminded us all of how Kaavia got her nickname. “She needs a stand-up special,” Gabrielle told her Instagram fans. “@kaaviajames keeps that same energy,” the actress added.
Several thousand followers loved Gabrielle’s poolside posts with her daughter. “Just love her million and one different facial expressions,” one fan said. “She’s always so serious,” another follower mused.
Gabrielle Union told Glamour about her life as a mom during a recent interview. “I’ve gotten to the point where I’m OK with her crying,” Union shared. “I’ve just gotten used to it. You know, on the airplane they’re like, ‘You’ve got to put your mask on first.’ But the guilt of feeling like there’s nothing else I can think to do,” the actress admitted.
Union went on to tell Glamour how she deals with criticism in the public sector. “Part of the journey is being OK with how others—specifically moms—are viewing you, judging you, praising you,” Gabrielle shared. “So much of the Instagram life is creating these perfect illusions, right? People have kids—even through surrogacy or IVF or whatever—and the kids just appear. Rarely do we hear how,” the actress added.
“What was the journey,” Gabrielle asked. “Without understanding what got to baby, it feels like easy and overnight. And that’s not the case.”
