Allen Iverson was the guest of honor at his Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement ceremony this past weekend. The star became overwhelmed with emotion as he recognized his family as the pillar who held him up during the hard times.
“I thank y’all for being my crutch in my career,” Iverson shared. “When I had hard losses, didn’t play well, the media treating me like they did throughout my career, I always came home and forgot about all that once I saw y’all.”
The star athlete paid special tribute to his ex-wife, Tawanna Turner. “This is one of those last-but-not-least things,” he said. “My number one person in the world, hands down, Tawanna Iverson.”
Allen went on to express gratitude for his ex-wife’s compassion. “Thank you for loving me the way you do. And caring about what type of person I am and what type of person that I need to be to set an example for our babies,” he explained. “I want you to walk around and understand that you are a Hall of Famer.”
Allen Iverson and Tawanna Turner have two sons, Isaiah and Allen II, along with three daughters named Dream, Tiaura, and Messiah together.
