Kelly Rowland says that giving birth to son Titan “challenged” the way that she looked at her body but now she feels comfortable in her own skin.
“I wish that someone would invent something to take away stretch marks and cellulite. If you don’t have stretch marks and cellulite after you had a baby, I really don’t like you. It’s just not fair. Giving birth challenged and changed the way I looked at my body,” Rowland said with a laugh, in an interview with Allure Magazine for their Pretty Powerful Video Series. “When I made 30-something happened, I just felt this click of everything kind of falling into place, and really feeling comfortable in my skin…Feeling myself.”
It is that self-confidence and personal reassurance that Rowland believes has been pivotal in helping her come to terms with her new post-baby body. And beyond that, Rowland has also discovered that though she always is very involved with her family, husband, Tim Witherspoon, and son, putting them first, she definitely believes in self-love. “If you don’t take care of yourself, you don’t have anything else to give anybody else. So I’m my number 1.”
The Chasing Destiny star does ,however, admit that she finds joy in looking after and spending quality time with her little one. “I try hard to make time each day for just me and Titan to connect,” she told Us Weekly in August 2015. “A lot of days that is naptime. I can close the bedroom door, turn on some music and just be with him. I also love reading to him and definitely putting him to sleep. It’s one of the times I feel the most connected to him.”
