Rhonda Ross had a blast at Harlem Week 2016. The recording was accompanied by her son Raif to the festival.
“Thank you #donthomas of @TheNYBeacon for inviting me to #harlemweek and the #ChildrensFestival to share my new CD #InCaseYouDidntKnow. It was a glorious day,” she shared on Instagram. Rhonda also uploaded a picture of her son after a successful face painting session. “Me and my African Prince #RaifHenok celebrating #harlemweek2016. So proud to be a part of such a vibrant loving community!”
Harlem Week is recognized as a festival for everyone. From music for children to shows for adults, the event is definitely a community event. Raik took full advantage of the activities available at the week-long bash. The youngster even showed off his artwork, which was a portrait of mom.
Rhonda decided to pursue a career in music full-time after a stint with teaching. “I knew somewhere deep down that instinctively I wanted a career that was more authentic, more organic,” she told media. “I took time away to have my son. Once he was here, it was like I turned 40 and I thought, ‘I know who I am now. I know what I want to say now.’ I feel like I get it now. I see myself as a beginning of something so exciting.”
Raik is Rhonda Ross’ only child with husband Rodney Kendrick.
