Laila Ali wants parents to look up and smell the roses. The celebrity mom recently participated in a Minute Maid commercial in which she tells moms and dads to look on the brighter side of rearing their kids.
“I feel that we as parents are very critical of ourselves and it’s very hard not to be, but at the end of the day, if you’re showing your kids unconditional love and they feel safe and supported, then you’ve won most of the battle,” says Laila. In winning most of the battle, Laila encouraged parents to tell themselves, “I’m doing good.”
In her personal journey as a mother of two, Laila relies on the lessons her father taught her as a child. “I learned most of my lessons from him, from his example,” the star shares with media. “If he saw that I was feeling a little down, or, you know, feeling a little left out, he would pull me aside and sit me on his lap and stop everything and then just focus on me. And that made me feel really special as a child. He did always teach us never to step on anyone in order to get ahead.”
