Olivia Allen is making her mark in the world. The 10-year-old recently held a conference for girls in her age group that was focused on teaching confidence to young girls .
“It’s important to give back,” says the tween of her I Can Be: Girls Confidence Conference. “There are a lot of people in our community and if I help someone, they’ll help someone else … and it will be a cycle.”
Olivia’s conference was geared towards girls between the ages of eight to ten years old, and focused on the various challenges that they face. Allen is certainly aware of physical changes that make it difficult to remain confident as she noticed her levels of assertiveness fell the moment she entered adolescence.
“I realize some girls’ confidence goes down when they start puberty,” says the tween. Olivia’s mom, Anitra Allen, also chimes in by telling media, “The importance of having a conference like this is to show girls what they can be.” She adds, “Confidence is one of those things that can dictate what you decide to do and that will influence who you think you are.”
