Quvenzhané Wallis walked the red carpet last night for the Golden Globe Awards, 2015’s first chance to honour the film and TV community. She had the privilege of being nominated for “best actress in a musical or comedy” for her role in the new Annie film, which itself also held two other nominations, but did not take home any awards.
Either way, Quvenzhané shined.
Of course, the 11-year-old wore an Armani Junior gown, white-and-lilac. She has been the junior ambassador and face of the brand since 2013, following her breakout success of 2012.
While Quvenzhané’s name was being announced as a nominee last night, presenter Ricky Gervais had the misfortune of mispronouncing it. Unfortunately, she did not get a chance to get up there and correct him, but a video on YouTube later that night had the little star correct the world (because it is likely that most of us have been saying it wrong). In the video, she enthusiastically declares that her name is pronounced as follows: Kwah-ven-zsa-nay.
Perhaps next year she will have another opportunity at taking home a award for her upcoming film, Counting By 7s, which promises to tug at all our heart-strings.
