Quvenzhane Wallis is sharing her creativity with the world while supporting other kids striving to release the artistry within. The tween, along with other members of the cast of Annie, stopped by Turnaround Arts Los Angeles Event in Inglewood on Monday to answer questions and support the educational program.
Quvenzhane sat in between Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz during the interview session. Diaz portrays Quvenzhane’s stepmother in the upcoming remake of Annie, which will make it debut in December. Viewers will also see Jamie Foxx in a different light as he will portray the wealthy Will Stacks, who takes Annie in as his own child in hopes of influencing the public to vote for him in the upcoming election.
In many respects, the story of Annie can be compared with the Turnaround Arts mission. Although the organization does not mimic Will Stacks in showing orphaned children the better side of life, it does give kids who are struggling with academics the opportunity to advance. By using art, the Turnaround program conveys the essentials of Math and English to children who require more than traditional learning sessions where the teacher lectures while students listen.
Annie makes its debut in theaters on December 19, 2014. Learn more about the Turnaround Arts program here.
