Who What Wear got an Exclusive with Sofia Richie recently, in which (as usual) she discussed her sense of fashion, and her excitement at launching a music career.
“Grunge-y, prepp-y, and classic” is how Sofia chose to describe her personal style. Finding that sense of style was easy growing up under the wings of her older sister Nicole. “[Nicole] told me not to care about what other people think, just dress how you want to dress.” Not to mention, the access to that closet.
Sofia admits that just a few short years ago she was more about idolizing her big sister than she was about fashion itself. ““I always envied my sister and wanted to look like her and do everything that she did, so I started to dress like her, and that’s when I realized what fashion was.”
And then there is the ‘what-not-to-do” lesson from her father, Lionel Richie. The up-and-comer shared that when she saw him wearing sparkles and spikes she immediately saw that the fusion was a fashion don’t. “I learned just don’t combine them”. So, it seems she has quite the fashion education at her disposal, which explains her ease with it.
