BRITTNEY GRINER SHARES WHAT LIFE IS LIKE RAISING SON BASH WITH WIFE CHERELLE

Brittney Griner is opening up about what motherhood looks like for her and her wife, Cherelle, as they raise their 19-month-old son, Bash.

The 35-year-old WNBA star spoke with People Magazine at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of The Brittney Griner Story on Tuesday, Jan. 27, where she reflected on life as a mom and the joy that comes with it.

“Oh my God. It is a lot. I see why everybody says goodbye to sleep, especially in the early days, but it’s so rewarding. I come home, [and] he’s smiling. My day’s just good then,” she said.

Griner and her wife welcomed their son in July 2024. Speaking with CBS Sports around that time, the Baylor University alum said becoming a mom immediately changed her perspective.

“They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”

In November of 2024, the couple shared the first images of their son in an Instagram carousel.

“Bash may have the best room in the house. Thank you @strolleria for providing the most comfortable nursing chair and stroller.” Brittney began the caption carousel caption.

She continued, “Relle and I both fall asleep with Bash at night in that chair and wake up without any aches and pains! That’s a plus in my book! @crateandkids proud to partner with you in designing Bash’s room! We love every detail from his amazing book wall collection to his comfortable crib! He sleeps like a big man in his room alone.”

Griner previously said during a recent Atlanta Dream post-game press conference that her son is her “why” and what continues to motivate her.

“He’s my why. It was starting to get to a point where I was like, what is my why? Honestly, and then he came along, and yeah, he’s my why,” she said.

“Like everything I do is for him. I’ll be proud of him once he’s able to really realize everything. … I do it for him, want to provide for him and show him the right way to do things.”
