Jeannie Mai attended the premiere of Balance: A Perimenopause Journey with her daughter, Monaco Jenkins, on January 13, 2026, in West Hollywood.
The event served as the debut of Mai’s new documentary series, which she co-executive produced.
The project explores perimenopause through expert insight and personal stories, including Mai’s own.
Last month, Mai shared how she first realized she was experiencing perimenopause. In an Instagram post, she said she began noticing shifts in her body that did not come with clear answers.
“Is it stress?? Is it age? Is it hormones?? Or is my body just starting a group chat without me? Because that’s honestly how it felt,” she wrote.
“I started noticing changes I couldn’t explain — energy shifts, mood swings, sleep off, BRAIN FOG + forgetfulness..!! And every time I asked, the answers were vague or dismissive. I didn’t have language. Just questions… and a lot of side-eye at myself over the past few years,” she continued.
While Mai has long been involved in projects that center conversations people often avoid, she said this one felt different because it reflected her own life.
“Perimenopause wasn’t something I was researching,” she wrote. “It was something I was living.”
That realization became the foundation for Balance: A Perimenopause Journey. The series was created to open dialogue, feature medical experts, and center women’s real-life experiences.
“So we created a series for us,” Mai explained. “To ask better questions. To sit with real experts. To listen to women’s lived experiences, including my own, and bring clarity where there’s been silence.”
She said the goal is reassurance as much as education.
“BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey exists to remind us we’re not broken, not dramatic, and not imagining what we feel,” Mai wrote. “My dream is to normalize the conversation, not the confusion.”
The four-part documentary series is executive produced by Jeannie Mai and Alyssa Milano, and is directed by Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti and distributed by Filmhub. Balance: A Perimenopause Journey premieres January 30 and will be available to stream on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and other major digital platforms.
