EVENFLO VOLUNTARILY RECALLS NEARLY 75,000 REAR-FACING CAR SEATS

Evenflo is voluntarily recalling thousands of All4One 4-in-1 convertible car seats after internal testing raised concerns about how the product performs in rear-facing mode.

As per the company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall covers 74,710 seats manufactured between January 2022 and June 2024 and sold in the United States and Canada. The issue was formally reported to NHTSA on Dec. 24, 2025.

“Evenflo is voluntarily recalling certain All4One 4-in-1 convertible car seats after testing showed that when the seat is used rear-facing, the seat may shift from one recline position to another during a crash,” the company posted a notice on their official website.

The notice concluded, “The safety and well-being of children and families who trust our products is our highest priority, and we are taking this step out of an abundance of caution.”

So just what does this recall mean for families?

Well, NHTSA’s documentation states that if the seat changes recline position during a collision, a person sitting next to the child restraint could be at risk of injury if their fingers are placed inside the opening above the recline indicator. The company noted that the shifting of the seat does not impact the effectiveness of the restraint itself.

Evenflo says parents do not need to stop using the car seat while waiting for a replacement car seat.

“Parents and caregivers may continue to use the car seat, including in rear-facing mode. However, when the seat is used rear-facing, it is prudent to take care to prevent any passenger from inserting their fingers into the recline mechanism,” the company stated.

As a temporary precaution against the risk of pinching fingers, Evenflo suggests that parents fold a small towel and place it “inside the recline mechanism to fill in the open space.” (see above example)

Owner notification letters will begin mailing on Jan. 26, 2026. Families with registered products will automatically receive information on obtaining a free replacement unit. Those who have not registered their car seat can contact the company at [email protected] or call (800) 233-5921 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
