Gabourey Sidibe and her husband, Brandon Frankel, recently enjoyed a special family outing with their twins, Maya and Cooper.
The couple took the 1-year-olds to see their favorite characters come to life at Disney On Ice Presents Let’s Dance! on Dec. 20 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Frankel took to Instagram to share photos from the outing. In one of the snaps, Sidibe and Frankel are smiling as they pose alongside Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Maya and Cooper, however, appeared more interested in Minnie than the camera, with both toddlers turning their attention toward the character during the meet-and-greet.
“They say never meet your heroes, but getting to take Cooper and Maya to meet two of theirs did not disappoint,” Frankel wrote. “And by heroes…they only knew them as stuffed animals. Getting to watch them be so excited was nothing short of magical. Thank you to Disney on Ice for inviting us to party with Mickey and Minnie before the show. As you can see, Minnie was their fave.”
Frankel also shared video from the night on Instagram, offering a closer look at the twins’ reactions. The clip shows Maya and Cooper meeting Mickey and Minnie up close and dancing with the performers, while Sidibe stood nearby encouraging them.
“Their reactions did not disappoint,” he added. “I’ve been looking forward to this for a month — the way they get excited when they see their Mickey and Minnie stuffies…not realizing they’re not just toys (no screen time) is adorable. Needless to say, they were so stoked!”
He also reposted the video on his Instagram Stories, writing, “Big big day for the twins yesterday getting to meet two of their favorite celebs.” In another Story, Frankel joked, “Clearly Minnie was more important than the camera… and I get it.”
Sidibe and Frankel married in March 2021 and welcomed Maya and Cooper in April 2024.
