Singer-songwriter KEM has had a long and celebrated career in R&B, but right now, his biggest headline has nothing to do with music, it’s family. The “Love Always Wins” singer is preparing to welcome his eighth child, with wife, Erica Owens, sharing the exciting news exclusively with People Magazine.
The baby on the way will be his fifth with wife Erica. Between them, they already have a blended, beautifully big household, four children together, plus two daughters from a previous relationship for KEM, and one daughter Erica brought into the marriage.
KEM didn’t hold back about what fatherhood means to him, telling People Magazine, “Being a husband and a father continues to be the greatest blessing of my life.” Erica also added to the conversation stating what motherhood means to her.
“Motherhood has been such a meaningful journey for me, and I’m grateful.”
If you follow his career, this isn’t surprising. His music has always leaned into love, faith, and personal growth. Fans often say that KEM’s songs feel like they’re written from the heart, and apparently, the same spirit shows up in how he looks at family.
The couple tied the knot in 2019, and you get the sense that this next chapter feels really intentional to both of them. KEM told the outlet, “Erica and I are looking forward to welcoming another little miracle into our growing family.”
Erica added her own excitement, saying, “My husband and I are excited for this next chapter. Our family is already full of love for this little blessing.”
The couple has not released a due date yet nor gender reveal, at least not publicly, but knowing KEM, there will probably be a song or two inspired by this new addition to the family. And of course, we are all going to be on baby watch until we get to meet the new little one!
