CHRISSY TEIGEN SHARES HER FAMILY’S HOLIDAY PLANS

Chrissy Teigen is already in full holiday mode, and the 39-year-old is giving fans a peek at what her family has planned this season.

While hosting Amazon’s Home for the Holidays event in New York City, the Cravings founder opened up to People Magazine about her family’s festive plans and why John Legend is taking over turkey duty this Thanksgiving.

Chrissy shared that she and John will be returning to New York with their four kids, Luna, 9, Miles, 7, Esti, 2½, and Wren, 2, a tradition they loved so much last year that they’re doing it again. “It just was so beautiful,” she shared, adding that the city makes holiday planning easy.

“It’s so easy, there’s so many amazing things to do, especially for our bigs, because we have two older kids and two little babies or two toddlers at least, and so just there’s the breadth of things to do here for all ages of children,” she says. “It’s so amazing. So we’re coming here, and yeah. I can’t wait.”

If you’ve ever wondered what Thanksgiving looks like at the Teigen–Legend house, the answer might surprise you.

“I hate turkey,” the mother-of-four admitted with zero hesitation. Instead, she relies on a signature chicken recipe from her cookbook, usually roasting two smaller birds nestled together as a turkey swap.

But in recent years, hosting has expanded, a lot. “With John’s entire family, which is very extensive, we’ll usually do four chickens,” she said. But this year? Things may change thanks to a recent purchase. “But then John also just bought a smoker, so I feel like this year, he is going to take over the turkey duties.” Chrissy shared.

Sides are non-negotiable. She’ll be making her mom’s scalloped potatoes, and Legend is already committed to his beloved mac and cheese. “Those are the things that are staples every single year,” she said.

When it comes to gifting, Chrissy insists Legend is incredibly easy to shop for. “It sounds dumb, but he really loves getting a beautiful silk robe or something,” Teigen explains. “He loves a man bag. It’s hard, because obviously, he is a musician, and I’m like, ‘Should I get him Miles Davis’s old recordings, or this?’ But, no. He’s a simple dude, and he likes really simple things.” Even though she’s tempted to get him something music-related, simple things always win.

Her most cherished gift from him? A personalized family “yearbook,” packed with their favorite photos from the year.

“It’s almost like a coffee table book,” she says. “And it’s three inches, and it’s the most beautiful photos from our whole year. They’re just a bunch of cell phone photos, but they’re photos that are important to us and significant for us.”

Holiday decorating in the Teigen–Legend household is an all-hands-on-deck operation, mostly thanks to Luna.

“Luna loves crafting,” the former Sports Illustrated model says. “I love the gingerbread houses that you don’t eat. They’re kind of frosting mixed with glue and everything and you have those out.” But poinsettias? Absolutely not.

“I hate poinsettias so much,” she says. “I hate the color red in my home. There’s something about red that just really irks me. I get it for the holidays. I understand it being on your tree and if you’re going for a very big Christmas-y look. But aside from that, unless you go full-on with it, I really hate that plant so much.”
