LaKeith Stanfield has nothing but admiration for his wife, Kasmere Trice Stanfield, especially after the actor witnessed her give birth to their child.
While attending the New York premiere of Die My Love at AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Saturday, Nov. 1, the 32-year-old actor opened up about the unforgettable moment, calling it “the craziest, beautiful, powerful, amazing thing I’ve ever seen.”
“And I had a camera,” he added, telling Entertainment Tonight, sharing that he captured the experience in photos and even helped during the delivery. “I held up her leg,” he said with a laugh, adding that the moment left him in awe.
“As a man, all you want to do is help and bear witness. And I feel like, coming out of this movie, we’re reminded how important women are, how important they are to the entirety of creation in the world.”
The Atlanta star and Kasmere revealed to People Magazine in July 2023 that they had quietly married and welcomed their first child together. “We decided early on we wanted to protect our baby as much as we can for as long as possible,” Kasmere said at the time, noting that they have chosen to keep their child’s name and sex private.
LaKeith, who is also dad to two daughters from previous relationships, spoke candidly about fatherhood in an additional interview with the outlet.
“I’m truly concerned about their wellbeing and that I want them to do well, to be well, to feel well in the world, and that’s a unique thing,” he said. “I know for me growing up, I didn’t always feel like I had that. I didn’t really have a figure that was a male that was in my life that I felt I could depend on and count on.”
For LaKeith, becoming a father has reshaped everything. “The connection with my kids is something unlike any I’ve ever had in my life,” he said.
