HALLE BAILEY SAYS HER SON BRINGS OUT THE ‘INNER CHILD’ IN HER

Halle Bailey is opening up about her experience with postpartum depression and the lessons she’s learned since becoming a mom.

The singer and actress stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show, where she spoke about life after welcoming her son, Halo, and why being recognized for her work in maternal mental health means so much to her.

“Well, it was so important to me because of basically like my mindset, what I was going through right when I had my child. And, you know, I felt like, wow, I have to speak up about this, not only for, you know, the older women, but the younger generation of women. There’s a lot of girls my age, like around their 24, 25, having children. And we kind of are like, “Oh my goodness.” When we give birth, we’re like, “Wow, the emotions, the hormones, everything.”

Halle went on to say that motherhood has helped her reconnect with her inner child.

“You know, I think my favorite thing is I feel like I’m learning so much from my child. I think that I’m learning so much, and also he’s bringing out the inner child in me every single day. Like I feel like I’m feeding the little girl in me, like painting or doing a fun activity. It’s like, oh, I’m having fun. I’m a child again too.”

Halle shares her 22-month-old son with her ex, DDG. The pair split in October 2024 and are still working through custody arrangements.

According to court filings, both have made allegations of abuse against each other, and Halle currently has a restraining order that prevents either parent from posting Halo online.

The order, originally set to expire on October 15, has been extended until November 5 after both sides agreed to delay their next court date.

The update comes as DDG released a new song titled “17 More Years,” which appears to reference their co-parenting situation.

“I don’t wanna fight no more, tired of the court dates/Lawyers gettin’ over on us, watching’ money go to waste/We should all get together on his birthday, light the cake/If we talk, it’ll get better, go ahead and drop the case,” he says on the track.

He continues, “We ain’t got no communication, that’s the main thing/Every time we walk into that court they say the same thing/These judges judgin’ me and I gotta stay calm/Still got respect for you, you are a good mom.”
