Kim Kardashian is once again facing backlash, this time for reportedly allowing her 12-year-old daughter, North West, to get a dermal piercing on her finger.
While in Rome, fans noticed what appeared to be a dermal finger piercing, also known to be a single-point piercing, on North’s middle finger.
The sighting quickly sparked debate online, with many social media users voicing concerns about the risks.

One Reddit user commented, “Who the f–k lets their 12 year old have piercings? And who the f–k pierces a 12 year old? My kid didn’t even have her ears pierced at 12.”
Another chimed in noticing that the piercing had a red bump next to it, commenting, “Oof that looks like it’s infected!!”
A third wrote, “She’s 12. Wtf is Kim doing?!”
“It already looks rejected and painful … Poor girl,” another commenter added.
“I am speechless,” one Reddit user summed it up for everyone.
Another social media user called it the piercing, “f–king disturbing. Any piercer who would do this on a 12 year old child even with parental consent needs their license revoked. A dermal piercing is at a larger risk of rejection/infection even for adults, ESPECIALLY on the hand area.”
Experts caution that finger piercings carry unique risks. Jewelry company Lulu Ave, notes that they “may not heal well due to the constant use of the hands and the risk of the jewelry getting snagged or bumped.”
Additionally, Healthline warns that dermal piercings “don’t have a separate entry and exit point for jewelry,” poisons greater risk for infection.
North is the eldest of Kim’s four children with whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West. The former pair are also parents to sons Saint and Psalm, and daughter, Chicago.
