Tia Mowry is opening up about her approach to parenting in Hollywood, revealing that “walking in truth” is the key to shielding her children from the spotlight.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 46-year-old opened up on the red carpet at the BET Awards discussing how she shields her children from the “craziness of Hollywood.”
“I think it’s all about just staying true to who you are,” said Mowry told the outlet. “Trends, they come and go. I’ve never been that type of person to hop on a trend. I’ve always been myself, you know.”
“So I think just walking in truth, in authenticity, has been really, really really important. So I definitely want that for my children, you know,” she added.
The Sister Sister alum also told ET that as a parent it is important for her to “celebrate” and recognize exactly who her children are and recognize who they are becoming.
“I celebrate them. I celebrate their independence,” Mowry said of her two children, daughter, Cairo, 7, and son, Cree, 13. She continued, “Cree, he is just, he’s almost, I mean, he’ll be 14 [on] June 28, so I have a teenager in the house.”
As for her daughter, Mowry told the outlet that, “I really think she’s going to be the President of the United States one day. She’s so independent. She’s so and I know, you know, parents, they say this all the time, but she’s really smart. She loves to draw. She loves to dance. She loves to swim. She’s just into so many things. They’re wonderful.”
Mowry shares her two children with ex-husband and fellow actor, Cory Hardrict. After 14 years of marriage, the couple called it quits in October 2022. Their divorce was finalized in April of 2023. Since then, the couple has been finding their right groove in terms of successful co-parenting.
