Nipsey Hussle’s children, Kross and Emani Asghedom, made a rare public appearance on Saturday to celebrate the launch of Marathon Burger’s second location on the Venice Beach Boardwalk.
Kross attended the grand opening with his mom, actress Lauren London. Emani, Nipsey’s daughter from a previous relationship, arrived with her aunt, Samantha Smith, who is Hussle’s sister.
Also in attendance was Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, Nipsey’s brother and co-founder of The Marathon brand, along with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and other notable guests.
Located at 1827 Ocean Front Walk, the new outpost is an extension of the original Marathon Burger, which opened on Melrose.
Blacc Sam, who founded the brand in memory of his brother, created a more streamlined menu at the Venice location to help speed up service.
According to Eater L.A., items like salads, mushroom burgers, and milkshakes served at the Melrose flagship have been removed in favor of a focused lineup that includes smash-style burgers, wings, and a vegan option.
Blacc Sam also revealed that more locations are in the works. “We have a location we’re eyeing, but I don’t know if it will be location four or five. We’re trying to figure out the best strategic location,” says Asghedom.
Marathon Burger is a part of Nipsey’s growing estate. After his passing in March 2019, his estate was divided between his two children. Court filings show that Lauren London manages Kross’s share of Nipsey’s holdings, while Samiel Asghedom oversees Emani’s interests.
The estate includes a wide range of assets, from a 2012 Chevy Suburban to full ownership stakes in All Money Inc., Marathon Studios, The Marathon Clothing, The Marathon Touring, and various trademark holdings. Altogether, the estate is valued at over $11 million.
Lauren London, who was in a relationship with Nipsey from 2013 until his death, welcomed Kross in 2016. She is also mother to Kameron Carter, her son with rapper Lil Wayne. Nipsey’s daughter, Emani, is with Tanisha Foster.
