In a recent interview, model and television personality Anansa Sims opened up about the insecurity she faced while dating as a single mother.
The 46-year-old joined Evelyn Lozada and her daughter Shaniece Hairston for a candid conversation about motherhood, dating, and more on a recent episode of the Drop the Lo Podcast. She admitted to the hosts that when it came to dating, she felt insecure after repeatedly being told that no one wants to date single mothers.
““I remember being told, ‘Nobody’s gonna want your three kids,’” she shared. It’s the kind of comment that sticks. “That is something that’s said to hold you back, to make you overthink,” she admitted in her interview.
Yet, the mother-of-five, laughed and said that the reality is that men have always been attracted to her. In actuality, her “DMs are all over the place.”
“I’ve got five children, and my DMs are all over the place,” she laughed, noting that being a mom actually attracts the opposite sex more often than not. “Nine times out of ten, they’re like, ‘I love that you’re a mom.’”
Sims is extremely lucky to have a great motherly role model in her very own mother, fashion icon, Beverly Johnson. Sims continues on the podcast telling the hosts that her mother is the ultimate hypewoman, reminding her that she is more than just a “mom”.
“Anansa, you’re educated, you’re beautiful, you’re a kind person.” She added, “I’m like, ‘Mom, mom, mom, you’re just saying that.’”
Sims shares her children with NBA player Matt Barnes, whom she dated on and off for five years before their December 2022 engagement. Sims and Barnes had two children together during their time together. Before her relationship with Barnes, Sims was married to former football player, David Patterson Jr. Sims shares her first three children with Patterson.
