“I spent Mother’s Day weekend with 5 of my 6 children,” Madonna wrote in the caption. “Sunshine, laughter, horseback riding, soccer, and the sound of music! The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another.”

Madonna shares her eldest daughter Lourdes, 28, with ex-boyfriend Carlos Leon. She welcomed son Rocco, 24, during her marriage to director Guy Ritchie. She later expanded her family through adoption, becoming mom to David and Mercy, both 19, and twin daughters Estere and Stella, 12.

She continued, “When you raise children to be unique and opinionated, you also create your own debate team !!! Motherhood could never be described with a few words. Nothing can prepare you. Happy Mother’s Day !! To All the Women out there doing the Heavy Lifting!”

Madonna has previously opened up about the realities of parenting while managing a demanding career. In a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, she called motherhood “the most difficult, the hardest battle,” and explained that even with years of experience, she is still navigating the balance.

“Today I am still struggling to understand how to be a mother and do my job,” she said.

“Because, whoever you are, having children and raising them is a work of art,” she continued. “And no one gives you a manual. You have to learn from mistakes. It is a profession that requires a lot of time. And it is exhausting because there is never rest.”
