In a recent episode of The Kardashians, Khloé Kardashian revealed that her 6-year-old daughter, True, believes that she and her ex, Tristan Thompson, are married—a misconception Khloé has chosen not to correct in order to protect True’s innocence.
During a conversation with her best friend, Malika Haqq, Khloé shared, “True thinks me and Tristan are married.”
Malika responded with support, saying, “It’s just probably better for her. It’s not like she would really understand. It’s okay.”
Khloé agreed, adding, “It is the right thing to do. In my opinion. Get married, have kids. That’s what I want to teach her.”
However, while Khloé is fine letting her daughter continue to hold this belief for now, she also expressed concerns about how it could affect True’s perception of marriage later on.
In a confessional, Khloé opened up about her worries. “The only thing that bothers me about that would be I don’t want True going through life thinking this is what a marriage is,” she explained. “That you’re married to someone and they don’t live with you and you never have to kiss them, or you don’t sleep in the same bed together.”
Khloé also shared her hopes for her children’s future, saying she would love them to witness a healthy, affectionate relationship one day.
“I would love my kids to see me have a husband one day, and I would love them to see love and affection and romance,” she said. “I do want them to have that. And when she’s older, I can explain it to her. But right now, I believe you do things for your kids because kids should not be involved in adult problems.”
Khloé shares True and her 2-year-old son, Tatum, with Tristan Thompson. After years of ups and downs, the two finally split in June 2021 after Khloé discovered Tristan was expecting a child with another woman.
